Teaching Objectives and Achievements

Teaching Objectives of the Department of Chemistry:

PT1- Able to use the basic concepts and practices of their profession in their own field and interdisciplinary studies, to advance their knowledge, to produce solutions to the professional problems they encounter;

PT2- Can contribute by applying their professional knowledge to fields related to their profession such as  industry, technology, education,  health , environmental sciences , have the ability to work and manage individually or in a team, and can use modern methods and technologies in the professional field; 

PT3-  To train chemists who take into account universal and social values ​​such as occupational health and safety, have a sense of professional ethics and responsibility, and can use at least one foreign language in their professional field .

 

Program Outcomes of the Department of Chemistry :

 Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

PO1. Gains basic concepts in the theory and applications of chemistry, establishes and applies necessary connections, uses theoretical and applied knowledge, chooses methods, develops and designs.

PO2. It develops the approaches and knowledge of different disciplines in basic and applied fields and uses them in the field of chemistry, and contributes to the decision-making process of problems related to different disciplines  .

PO3. Identify problems related to chemistry, collect data, develop hypotheses for problem solving by making synthesis, solve problems using various observational and experimental methods, reach the result by using time effectively with analytical thinking ability, take quality and standard into consideration.

PO4. Follows the chemistry literature, uses advanced theoretical and applied knowledge, transfers the acquired knowledge orally or in writing, determines learning needs, directs his learning.

PO5. Gains the ability to work actively in activities and projects for professional development, both individually and in multidisciplinary groups, generates solutions to unforeseen complex problems that may arise in this process, can take responsibility, and manage teamwork.

PO6. It acts sensitive to universal and social values, observes and researches national interests and cultural values, uses and develops its knowledge with ethical and professional responsibility awareness, acts in accordance with quality management and processes.

PO7. In order to meet the needs of the individual or society  , it seeks solutions to national and international problems in terms of chemistry, and develops projects for the development of employees under its responsibility.

PO8. It can apply chemical technology to education, industry, agriculture,  health and environmental problems, and acts in accordance with the universality of social rights and social rights.

PO9. They can follow the current developments in the field of science and technology, develop their knowledge, conduct research using scientific methods and techniques, and independently carry out advanced studies in their field.

PO10. By gaining lifelong learning skills, they use their knowledge in their field in their professional and daily life with the awareness of social responsibility, transfer the acquired knowledge by adapting them to education programs, plan and manage work for the development of the employees under their responsibility.

PO11. Uses a foreign language at least at the European Language Portfolio B1 general level, follows the information in the field of chemistry, transfers information, and communicates with colleagues.

PO12. Uses information and communication technologies along with computer software at the level required by the field.

PO13. It keeps its knowledge and experience in the field of chemistry alive, constantly improves its professional knowledge and skills, shares its knowledge with others, and carries its learning to an advanced education level.
